MAINTENANCE ENGINEER / ACCRINGTON / COMPETITIVE BASIC SALARY & BENEFITS

Isothane Ltd is a leading manufacturer in the polyurethane industry, supplying high-quality materials to sectors such as construction, insulation, and industrial applications. As we continue to expand and improve our operations, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our team.

As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient running of our production equipment and plant assets. You’ll work closely with production teams to minimise downtime, carry out preventative maintenance, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer Role:

  • Perform planned and reactive maintenance on machinery, pumps, mixers and chemical processing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and optimisation of new production equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety standards, PU-specific chemical handling protocols, and regulatory requirements (e.g., COMAH, ATEX where applicable).
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to the development of maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with Technical, production, and HSE teams to implement reliability improvements.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for efficiency, energy reduction, and equipment performance enhancements.

About You:

  • Time-served apprenticeship or recognised qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
  • Experience in a chemical, polymer, coatings, or manufacturing environment (PU or chemical processing experience highly desirable).
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation, and automated systems is a plus.
  • Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of process risk and safe work systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
