Highfield Professional Solutions are thrilled to be partnering with a leading organisation at the forefront of the UK's nuclear sector. With major contracts across multiple high-security sites, they deliver some of the industry's most complex and safety-critical engineering projects. As their portfolio continues to grow, they are now seeking an experienced Electrical-Bias Commissioning Engineer to support key commissioning activities on a high-profile programme in the Reading area.
The Role
As an Electrical-Bias Commissioning Engineer, you will play a vital part in ensuring that all systems are commissioned safely, accurately, and in full compliance with stringent nuclear and project governance requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervising all onsite commissioning activities, ensuring safe, compliant and correct testing at all times.
- Writing and reviewing commissioning procedures and Safe Systems of Work aligned with project and nuclear site requirements.
- Preparing and submitting commissioning documentation for Testing & Commissioning Panel review and approval.
- Identifying potential hazards or dangerous occurrences before they arise (e.g. unshielded moving parts, exposed live terminals) and implementing appropriate control measures.
- Planning onsite commissioning activities, including approvals for procedures and Safe Systems of Work, and coordinating with other working parties.
- Attending site planning meetings and contributing technical input to commissioning strategy and execution.
Experience & Skills Required
- Proven experience working within nuclear or similarly regulated, high-hazard environments with a strong emphasis on quality, compliance and safety.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in commissioning building services plant and systems.
- SC or DV clearance required
- Valid CSCS card in a relevant discipline.
- Strong understanding of commissioning governance, documentation, and safe system controls.
- Ability to assess risks, foresee unsafe conditions and act proactively.
