Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious On-Site Machinist to join our team on a nuclear construction site. This role involves executing precision machining operations using portable tools directly on-site, supporting construction and installation of critical systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a proven track record in regulated environments, and a proactive attitude toward safety, quality, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate portable machine tools for on-site machining tasks (e.g., flange facing, line boring, milling, drilling).
Interpret engineering drawings and technical work packages in accordance with nuclear standards (e.g., ASME, RCC-M).
Perform precision machining to tight tolerances, supporting pipework, flange, and component installation.
Conduct pre-use inspections, maintain tool calibration records, and manage equipment safety.
Work closely with supervisors, QA/QC inspectors, welders, and other trades to integrate machining into broader site workflows.
Complete job documentation, inspection records, and daily activity reports accurately.
Follow strict health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures applicable to nuclear construction environments.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and daily work planning.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Machining.
Minimum 5 years experience in portable/on-site machining, with at least 2 years in nuclear or other regulated sectors.
Previous work on large infrastructure or nuclear construction projects preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with portable machine tools and associated tooling.
Skilled in interpreting engineering and isometric drawings.
Familiar with industry standards for nuclear construction and machining documentation.
Competent with inspection tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
Certifications (Required/Preferred):
CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport (required)
Confined Space / Working at Height (desirable)
