Job Title: Product Application Engineer – ExplosivesLocation: AlfretonJob Type: Full-Time | PermanentAbout the Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Product Application Engineer to join our team, with a focus on supporting the introduction, application, and performance optimisation of explosive products — particularly bulk emulsion — in the field.This is a technically challenging and rewarding role that combines fieldwork, product performance monitoring, and process innovation. You'll be working at the intersection of engineering, R&D, and operations, leveraging advanced telemetry systems to monitor manufacturing performance and contribute to continuous product and process improvements.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-field analysis of explosive product performance, identifying non-conformities and contributing to technical improvements.
  • Manage QA/QC systems related to the mobile manufacturing of explosives; analyse process data and investigate abnormalities.
  • Provide technical support and training to operations teams on best practices for product application and implementation.
  • Ensure all activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support innovation by conducting research and contributing to the development of new processes and formulations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, lab, production, and quality teams to drive efficient, high-performance operations.
  • Utilise data analysis tools and produce detailed technical reports and recommendations.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing, petrochemical, or a relevant technical environment.
  • Hands-on familiarity with chemical process equipment, instrumentation, and QA/QC systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, material science, and environmental sustainability practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and use digital tools (including interest in AI applications) to improve processes.
