This is a very exciting and progressive opportunity for an ambitious Chemical Plant Operator to work with one of the leading Commercial Explosive Manufacturers in the UK. This is an onsite role based out of Alfreton, Derbyshire, Monday to Friday.We are looking for a Chemical Plant Operator to oversee the operation and maintenance of our automated plant within a hazardous environment. This role is vital in ensuring continuous production, safe handling of hazardous materials, and thorough cleaning of equipment to maintain efficiency and compliance with safety regulations.Key Responsibilities for the Chemical Plant Operator:
  • Monitor and maintain automated machinery to ensure production is completed
  • Safely load hazardous materials into the machines each morning, following strict handling procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections, diagnose faults, and perform necessary repairs to prevent downtime.
  • Complete a thorough cleaning of plant equipment and machinery each evening to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Follow COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR (or equivalent) regulations, conducting risk assessments and ensuring all work meets strict safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate logs of maintenance, material usage, and cleaning schedules.
Requirements for the Chemical Plant Operator:
  • Experience working within a hazardous environment (e.g., chemical, oil & gas, waste processing, or heavy industry).
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Ability to handle hazardous materials safely and follow strict protocols.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, HNC, City & Guilds in Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to preventing breakdowns and ensuring efficiency.
