Assistant Procurement Officer

Location: Derby (Hybrid options post-probation)

Salary: £27,000 – £32,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Are you an ambitious, motivated individual who is early in your procurement career and looking to build your experience in a supportive and purpose-led organisation?

A dynamic not-for-profit organisation is looking for an Assistant Procurement Officer to support the delivery of compliant and efficient procurement services for a wide-ranging public sector client base. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your knowledge of frameworks, DPS agreements, and public procurement regulations while working on meaningful projects that benefit local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of member mini competitions, including tender creation, clarifications, and contract awards
  • Assist in evaluating supplier applications and tender submissions
  • Draft legal and procurement documentation in line with regulations
  • Carry out supplier financial checks
  • Advise members on procurement processes (with guidance from senior colleagues)
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and current procurement legislation
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure excellent member service

About You:

  • Strong attention to detail and able to produce accurate, high-quality work
  • Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • IT proficient, especially with Microsoft Office
  • Experience or understanding of public procurement, frameworks, and DPS preferred
  • Studying towards CIPS (Level 3) or keen to start is a plus

Desirable Experience:

  • Working knowledge of the Public Contracts Regulations
  • Previous experience in procurement or tendering within the public sector
  • Awareness of the social housing or wider public services sector
