We are seeking a Service Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting high-performance industrial equipment across the UK. Ideally you will be based in the Midlands.
This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, technically strong engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy, and working directly with customers across multiple industries.
Responsibilities:
Service, Maintenance & Support
- Travel to customer sites to service, repair, and maintain industrial shredding and associated equipment
- Complete machinery inspections to ensure safe and efficient performance
- Interpret schematics, manuals, and technical documents to deliver work to high standards
- Prepare accurate service reports and highlight recommendations for customers
- Provide technical support and advice to both customers and suppliers
- Coordinate with the wider engineering team to resolve service and installation requirements efficiently
Installations
- Install and commission shredding machinery and related systems
- Provide basic training to customer operators on safe use and maintenance
- Document installation, commissioning, and training activities using company templates
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Prepare tools, parts, and equipment in advance for each job
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and follow all internal policies and procedures
- Complete RAMS documentation prior to engineering work
- Operate tools, forklifts, and other equipment safely and in line with training
- Undertake regular safety checks on vehicles, equipment, and tools
- Ensure accurate record-keeping using internal digital systems
Learning & Development
- Maintain professional and technical certifications
- Participate in training, meetings, toolbox talks, trade fairs, and development programmes
- Stay updated on the latest machinery technology and product developments
Experience Essential:
- Apprentice-trained and qualified multiskilled mechanical or electrical engineer
- Strong electrical skills (PLCs, voltages, drives, safety circuits, fault-finding)
- Strong mechanical skills (gearboxes, hydraulics, bearings, welding/burning, fault-finding)
- Experience servicing, inspecting, installing, and commissioning machinery
- Ability to interpret schematics, manuals, and technical drawing
Desirable:
- Experience with heavy industrial machinery
- Previous field service engineering experience
