PM Group requires a Design Manager to aid delivery and support on-site design process and technical improvements at a pharmaceuticals project in the South East.
Responsibilities
- Working as part of the project management team, providing technical support to the project.
- Supporting the project manager in scoping and delivery of the projects portfolio.
- Working with the project team to deliver the project documentation and drawings.
- Managing members of the design engineering team and managing the programme of design activities.
- Scope definition for numerous projects.
- Manage document control team and document control system.
- Construction management including construction timeline, in order to ensure delivery of projects on time and within budget constraints.
- Working alongside existing client engineers, managers, and directors.
- Act as main point of contact for design team and liase between clients, contractors and other team, to resolve issues and manage expectations.
- Acting as a client representative in meetings and discussions with third party vendors.
- Plan meetings as required and capturing tasks and trackers.
- Assist with managing final coordinated 3D model for handover.
- Managing risk and change, securing additional budget as required.
- Oversee Project Timelines and budget.
- Managing change and securing additional budget as required.
- Collaborating with other client departments and offering technical support as required.
- Ensuring the delivery of projects in a way that is compliant with EU and UK health and safety regulations, as well as client procedures and protocols.
- General process improvement, quality design, and risk management.
- Developing engineering standards that support project delivery.
- Other responsibilities in-keeping with the Design Management role.
Qualifications
- Candidates must have proven experience of working as a Design Manager/ Project Manager/ Engineering Manager or similar on multiple projects with extensive technical design experience.
- Candidates should hold engineering degree or HNC qualification, or equivalent.
- A background of working on projects within the pharmaceuticals sector is essential.
- Knowledge of standard industry practices, procedures and safety measures is essential.
- Candidates must be excellent communicators, able to lead and focus on a multi-disciplined engineering team.
- The successful candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills, including the ability to challenge and work with other technical engineers and project stakeholders.
