Sous Chef Coastal Hotel & Restaurant

Location: Dartmouth (TQ6), Devon
Salary: up to £33,000 per year

My client, a beautiful 22-bedroom family-run coastal hotel, is seeking a talented Sous Chef to join their passionate kitchen team.

This award-winning hotel is known for its fresh, seasonal dining served from breakfast through to dinner, complemented by sea-view drinks on the terrace and in the bar. The Head Chef creates a daily changing three-course menu with three choices per course, designed to celebrate the very best in locally sourced produce. His cooking style is simple yet refined, letting natural flavours shine.

The Role:

As Sous Chef, youll play a key role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations and outstanding food delivery across the restaurant, bar, and events.

  • Working closely with the Head Chef to deliver consistently high standards
  • Leading the kitchen team in the Head Chefs absence
  • Supporting with menu development and contributing creative ideas
  • Preparing and presenting fresh, seasonal dishes with precision and care
  • Training and motivating junior chefs to ensure growth and consistency
  • Managing stock levels and supporting with supplier relationships
  • Ensuring food hygiene and safety standards are always met

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong Chef de Partie looking to step up, or an existing Sous Chef who wants to develop further in a supportive, professional environment with an exciting future.

About You:
  • Previous experience at Sous Chef or strong Chef de Partie level
  • A passion for fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced food
  • Great communication and leadership skills
  • Calm under pressure with strong organisational ability
  • A creative approach and willingness to contribute to menu ideas
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 (minimum), with excellent knowledge of food safety standards
