Job Purpose:
Lead the development and delivery of the Councils Climate Change and Energy Strategy to support our transition to a net-zero, climate-resilient borough. You will champion sustainability, decarbonisation, and energy efficiency across council operations and within the wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategies to achieve the Councils net-zero carbon and climate adaptation goals.
Oversee the planning, delivery, and monitoring of energy and sustainability projects.
Coordinate cross-departmental working groups and engage external stakeholders, including community groups and businesses.
Identify and secure funding opportunities for climate initiatives.
Provide expert advice to senior leaders and elected members on climate policy and legislative requirements.
Monitor performance against key targets and produce reports to demonstrate impact.
Person Specification:
Proven experience in climate change, energy strategy, or environmental sustainability within a public sector or similar setting.
Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
In-depth knowledge of UK climate policy, net-zero frameworks, and sustainable energy systems.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
