The Role

Position: KS2 Teacher - Maternity Cover
Start Date: January 2026
Contract: Full-time, maternity cover (Spring & Summer Terms)
Location: Chiltern, District, Buckinghamshire

You will be responsible for delivering engaging, creative and challenging lessons in line with the school's broad and balanced curriculum. The ability to inspire a love of learning and to nurture each child's potential is key.

The position will also include English specialist teaching to pupils in the Upper Prep School (Years 5 and 6). Pupils are taught in ability sets for English and Mathematics, and the successful candidate will have the subject knowledge and confidence to teach engaging and challenging lessons that enable every child to make the greatest possible progress. Knowledge of the 11+ syllabus and preparation process would be highly desirable. Class teachers benefit from small class sizes and a generous non-contact allowance, supporting high-quality planning and teaching.

About You:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2
Strong subject knowledge in English, with confidence to teach Upper Prep pupils
Awareness or experience of the 11+ curriculum and preparation process (desirable)
A passion for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons
Strong organisational and communication skills
A reflective practitioner who enjoys being part of a collaborative team
A commitment to the values and ethos of an independent education
Independent school experience desired but no essential
