Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Design Engineer to join their growing team on a full-time, permanent basis. With a strong industry presence and an exciting pipeline of projects, they are looking to expand their design capabilities to meet increasing demand in the fire safety sector.


Fire Alarm Design Engineer Role and Responsibilities:

  • Designing fire detection and fire alarm systems in accordance with BS 5839 and relevant fire safety standards
  • Creating detailed CAD drawings, schematics, and specifications for new and existing projects
  • Collaborating with project managers, consultants, and site teams to ensure compliant and cost-effective solutions
  • Conducting site surveys and supporting pre-sales activities where technical input is required
  • Ensuring all designs meet client, regulatory, and insurance requirements
  • Preparing technical submissions, O&M documentation, and as-fitted drawings
  • Keeping up to date with the latest technologies, regulations, and design software
  • Supporting the commissioning and handover process when needed


Fire Alarm Design Engineer Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proficient in fire alarm design with strong knowledge of BS 5839 standards (Essential)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in fire system design (Desirable but not essential if strong technical understanding is demonstrated)
  • Experience with industry-recognised systems (e.g. Advanced, Kentec, Honeywell, Gent, etc.)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Relevant fire safety or electrical qualifications (e.g. FIA Design Modules, City & Guilds, BTEC)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence or equivalent (Essential)
