Our client is a major in-house construction and responsive repairs contractor. based in Merseyside. Were looking for a driven and passionate Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to lead their HS&E function.

This is a pivotal role where you will directly influence how we embed a proactive, positive health, safety and environmental culture across the business. This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference in an organisation that values high standards and continuous improvement.

About the Role

As HS&E Manager, youll be responsible for:

  • Leading the development and implementation of HS&E strategies, policies and procedures across HMS.
  • Ensuring full compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, including Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM).
  • Managing ISO certifications (14001, 45001, and 9001), audits, and external regulatory body interactions (e.g. HSE, Fire Authorities).
  • Providing expert technical advice to the senior leadership team and operational managers, driving health and safety performance across construction and maintenance services.
  • Developing and supporting your HS&E team (Business Partner, Advisor and possibly Apprentice).
  • Promoting a behavioural safety culture across our construction sites, repairs service, and office environments.
  • Leading training and awareness sessions, supporting investigations, and delivering robust audit frameworks and reporting systems.

What Were Looking For

Essential Experience & Knowledge:

  • Proven background in construction and CDM health and safety management.
  • Experience in leading teams within a fast-paced, multi-site environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant HS&E legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrable success managing ISO certification processes and compliance.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and embed culture change around safety and compliance.

Qualifications (Essential/Desirable):

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) Essential
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate Essential
  • Chartered membership of IOSH (or working towards) Desirable
  • SMSTS / CSCS Card / Lead Auditor Qualification Desirable
  • Environmental qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH Environmental Certificate) Desirable
