An automation engineer (controls system engineer ) is urgently required for a leading engineering services company to join a strong well established supportive team. As an automation engineer you will be involved in projects involving automated control and safety system (burner management) and other safety solutions that satisfy the critical nature of our customers plant and processes.
Their global clients work with in the energy / chemicals focusing on safety solutions that satisfy the critical nature of customer plant site and processes. Additionally as an automation engineer you are involved in consulting in the field of systems engineering and general system design and panel build services.
This would suit an electrical / controls / instrumentation background.
Mainly office based apart from when you go to clients sites (must be able to drive with car) with teamwork pivotal to the success of the company
The role and responsibilities
Manage PLC based system design and consultancy projects from point of sale, through initial design and manufacture, to site commissioning.
Responsible for a wide range of engineering design and project management tasks, with importance placed heavily on reading and interpreting technical documents to include industry standards, client specifications, P&IDs, logic diagrams.
Confident user of general office software (e.g. Microsoft Word / Excel) for preparing various in-depth project related documentation. (e.g. Specifications / reports / calculations etc.).
Critically review, and mark-up documents / drawings generated by others, providing constructive feedback.
Rigorously testing - so an ability to apply problem solving and analytical techniques, to plan and carry out appropriate system tests is needed.
General control of project work, including look-ahead planning, control of project budgets and schedules, change control, estimating activities, project document management and progress reporting.
Review of clients specifications and other national / international standards to ensure project compliance.
PLC, HMI & SCADA application software development
Participation in design reviews, including HAZOP / LOPA, hazardous area, etc.
Skills and Experiences
HNC/HND/ or Degreequalificationinarelevant engineeringdiscipline,
Experience PLC configuration and application software development.(Siemens S7 Allen Bradley)
Understanding of industrial process control / automation systems
Familiarity with process instrumentation / industrial processes with a working knowledge of P&IDs
Understanding of Industrial PLCs / Safety PLCs
Ability to work from industry / client standards and specifications
Confident user of MS Word / Excel
Desirable Requirements
Familiarity with BS EN 61511/61508 Standards
TUV Functional Safety Engineer certified or willingness to obtain certification
Familiarity with ATEX Directive and methods of protection
CAD experience AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical
Commercially aware able to manage project budgets
Experienceintheplanninganddeliveryoftechnicalprojectsisessential.
Essential UK Driving Licence
