A fantastic EXCLUSIVE opportunity - Are you an experienced Buyer with a background in mechanical or electrical procurement? Do you thrive in a fast-paced construction environment and take pride in sourcing high-quality materials at the best value? We're looking for a proactive and detail-driven Mechanical/Electrical Buyer to join our clients Procurement & Supply Chain team.

In this role, you'll be responsible for procuring mechanical and electrical materials, plant, and services to support a range of construction and building services projects. You'll collaborate closely with site teams, project managers, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing aligned with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure mechanical and electrical materials, plant, and services for commercial and industrial construction projects.
  • Review technical specifications to ensure compliance with procurement requirements.
  • Obtain competitive quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and raise purchase orders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with project and site teams on material needs, delivery schedules, and plant hire coordination.
  • Monitor order progress and resolve any delivery or invoice issues.
  • Provide cost analysis, value engineering suggestions, and support project cost controls.
  • Stay informed on market trends, supply risks, and alternative product options.
  • Ensure adherence to company procurement procedures, health and safety, and sustainability policies.
  • Support the Procurement Manager in continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a procurement role within the Mechanical & Electrical sector, construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and supplier relationship management experience
  • Excellent analytical and cost management skills
  • Familiarity with procurement software and tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Working towards or qualfied in CIPS
  • A-levels or NVQ (preferably in Business, Finance, or Construction-related field)
