Join a leading company in the edible oils and fats industry as a Lab Technician. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and safety of products such as supermarket vegetable oils and margarines. Starting with day shifts, you will move to a rotating shift pattern, with competitive pay reflecting the demanding nature of the role.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Analyse packed products like oils and margarines, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Record analytical results accurately in the company's internal data systems.
  • Identify and log any products that do not meet quality parameters.
  • Receive, store, and manage product samples efficiently.
  • Communicate findings and important information to shift managers.
  • Pack and dispatch samples to internal company labs for further analysis.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, with full training provided.
  • Ensure accurate recording and maintenance of stock levels using an Excel-based system.
  • Support ongoing product development and quality improvement initiatives across the site.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within the oils/fats sector.
  • Familiarity with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and a methodical approach to work.
  • Physical fitness, as the role involves handling samples up to 12.5kg.
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and handling samples safely.
  • Flexibility and reliability, with a willingness to work occasional weekend overtime.
