Role Overview

As a Civil Quantity Surveyor with my client, you will play a critical role in the cost management and commercial oversight of civil engineering and groundworks packages across major projects. You will collaborate closely with internal teams including project management, procurement, and engineering, ensuring the financial success of each project through precise cost planning, subcontractor management, and diligent contract administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for civil works.

  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs based on project drawings and specifications.

  • Lead the procurement process for civil packages, including preparation of bills of quantities, scopes of work, and contract documentation.

  • Manage project budgets from inception to completion, ensuring financial control and accurate forecasting.

  • Administer and manage subcontractor accounts, assess progress claims, and oversee change management procedures.

  • Perform value engineering assessments and contribute to risk mitigation strategies.

  • Liaise with on-site teams to monitor construction progress and support cost-to-completion assessments.

  • Produce and present regular commercial reports to senior stakeholders, identifying risks and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, contract standards, and company procedures.

Candidate Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within civil or modular construction.

  • Strong knowledge of various forms of construction contracts and procurement methodologies.

  • High proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Excel (experience with Cubit, CostX, or similar tools is advantageous).

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a strong commercial mindset.

  • Self-driven, well-organised, and capable of working independently and within a team.

  • Flexibility to travel to project sites across Ireland and mainland Europe when required.
