Job Description
A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in South Tyneside is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Geography Teacher to join their team from January 2026 for two terms, with the potential for further opportunities.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and well-structured Geography lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a passion for the world around us. You will work within a supportive Humanities department that is committed to high standards, collaboration, and the continued development of both staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Geography lessons that inspire and challenge pupils.
- Assess, record, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
- Contribute to the wider Humanities department and whole-school initiatives.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Support the school's ethos, values, and commitment to safeguarding.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or ECT status.
- Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Geography.
- Ability to teach across KS3 and KS4.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- A proactive approach to teaching, with a commitment to student achievement.
ECT Applicants
This role is open to Early Career Teachers, and the school will fully support ECT induction across the two terms. You will have access to a mentor, structured training, and regular feedback to help you thrive in your first teaching role.
