1:1 Secondary Tutor SEN & SEMH Support (St Helens & Merseyside)

Prospero Teaching is looking for passionate and experienced Secondary Tutors to work on a 1:1 basis with students across St Helens.

This is a fantastic opportunity for educators who want to make a genuine difference outside of a traditional classroom environment. You'll be supporting young people who are currently unable to attend mainstream school many of whom have SEN or SEMH needs helping them rebuild confidence and make progress in Maths and English.

The Role:

Deliver Maths and English lessons (both subjects taught within each session)

Work 1:1 with secondary-age learners in their homes or community settings

Create engaging, tailored learning plans that meet individual needs

Provide ongoing encouragement and support to help each learner re-engage with education

Position Details:

Location: St Helens

Start Date: November 2025 (after October half term)

Contract Type: Part-time / ongoing

Pay: Up to 30 per hour

Hours: Flexible daytime hours (typically between 9am - 3pm)

What Were Looking For:

Strong knowledge of the UK Secondary Curriculum in both Maths and English

Experience working with students with SEN and/or SEMH needs

QTS or proven tutoring/teaching experience

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Reliable, compassionate, and able to adapt your approach to suit each learner

Willingness to travel around St Helens and surrounding Merseyside areas
