About the School

Role Purpose
* Lead, develop, and drive inclusive practice across the school
* Oversee the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and provision
* Coordinate assessment, planning, and review for pupils with SEN, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
* Work closely with staff, parents/carers, external agencies, and the local authority to ensure that the needs of pupils are met
* Monitor the progress of pupils with SEN and evaluate the effectiveness of provision and interventions
* Provide professional guidance, training, and support to staff on SEND matters
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership: Develop or refine the school's SEND policy; contribute to school self-evaluation and improvement planning
* Operational Management: Maintain and monitor the SEN register; ensure all statutory duties are met; manage budgets / resources for SEN
* Liaison & Collaboration: Work with therapists, psychologists, health & social care agencies; ensure smooth transitions for pupils moving into or out of the school
* Monitoring & Reporting: Track pupil progress; produce reports; attend review and annual EHCP meetings
* Staff Development: Train and support staff in inclusive teaching, differentiated planning, behaviour strategies, and pastoral support
Person Specification
* Has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working with pupils with a range of SEND
* Holds (or is working towards) the NASENCO qualification
* Demonstrates strong leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills
* Is resilient, patient, and has excellent communication skills
* Understands relevant legislation, guidance, and best practices around SEN
* Can work collaboratively and build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external stakeholders
