With a heritage dating back some 165 years The Jolly Fisherman has grown from strength to strength and is proud of its award-winning reputation as an eatery popular with locals, coastal ramblers and day-trippers alike.

Due to an internal restructuring we're looking for an ambitious Head Chef to lead our kitchen team, someone who is keen to develop and grow this exciting business.

This is a rare opportunity to join an outstanding business, not only to continue the fine reputation of signature dishes such as the famous Crab Soup, North Shields Dressed Crab Salad and Craster Landed Lobster, but to use your creative vision to drive the business to even higher heights and to further delight our guests.

Our ideal candidate will be

  • A current Head Chef or a senior Sous Chef with a minimum of 18 months experience in that role.
  • High level of competence with fresh food cooking; a strong familiarity with seafood cooking would be preferential.
  • A team player with strong leadership skills.
  • The skills and experience to manage the day-to-day operation within the kitchen including the administrative duties.
  • The ability to work under pressure with the flexibility to respond to a range of different challenges within the kitchen.

Responsibilities

  • To work within the company’s guidelines to produce exciting, fresh menus.
  • To lead your team to produce a consistent standard of food preparation, cooking and dish presentation.
  • To take ownership for the kitchen operation and the team, working to targets set by the company.
  • The knowledge to manage stock and margin results.
  • To ensure the highest standards of kitchen cleanliness In line with statutory and company requirements.
