Our client is looking for a skilled Ganger to lead a small team (up to 2 operatives) delivering essential drainage works across the Southern Water region. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for an experienced civils operative who's confident supervising others and ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality on site.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a civils team in the completion of drainage works (e.g. dig-down repairs, manhole rebuilds, interceptor installs/removals)

  • Conduct daily Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA) and site briefings, ensuring all team members and visitors acknowledge risks

  • Ensure site compliance with PPE and safety protocols

  • Order necessary plant and materials via the supervisor

  • Operate hand-held devices to log job information and progress

  • Complete site paperwork clearly and promptly

  • Carry out and record daily vehicle and plant checks, ensuring cleanliness and roadworthiness

  • Promote and follow health & safety policies, work instructions, and site-specific risk assessments (SSWR)

  • Be available for participation in the on-call rota

  • Perform other site-related duties as needed



Technical Skills

  • Strong experience in groundworks or utility civils

  • Skilled with tools and plant relevant to drainage operations



Essential Qualifications

  • Full clean UK driving licence

  • Streetworks (NRSWA) certification

  • Cat & Genny trained

  • CSCS
  • SSSTS


Desirable Qualifications

  • Excavator ticket

  • Deep excavation training

  • Abrasive wheels qualification

  • Confined space training
