Health and Safety Manager

Day Rate: 400.00

Role Overview:

The role of Health and Safety Manager within a prestigious Trust of schools in Hampshire is a pivotal position that offers the chance to make a significant impact on the well-being of staff, students, and visitors. This role is designed for a seasoned professional who is passionate about fostering a culture of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies.
- Offer strategic advice on health and safety matters to senior leadership.
- Lead risk management initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Director, Finance.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety laws and regulations.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Maintain detailed records of incidents and compile necessary reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with external agencies, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities.
- Create and deliver training programmes on health and safety best practices.
- Ensure all staff receive appropriate inductions and ongoing professional development.
- Serve as the primary contact for health and safety training needs across the Trust.
- Oversee the reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents.
- Collaborate with site managers to ensure safe working environments.
- Implement a Trust-wide health and safety monitoring system.
- Develop and test emergency response plans, including fire evacuation and lockdown procedures.
- Support schools in managing critical incidents and conducting post-incident reviews.
- Ensure all schools have adequate first aid provision and accident reporting procedures.

Skills and Experience Required:

- Proven experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within an educational or multi-site environment.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent communication and training abilities.
- Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
