Stock Condition Surveyor

We are recruiting on behalf of a local council for an experienced Stock Condition Surveyor to join their Housing, Communities and Governance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to support the council’s housing asset management strategy. The role will start on a temporary basis, with the strong potential to transition into a permanent position.
The Role
As a Stock Condition Surveyor, you will play a vital role in assessing and managing the council’s housing stock. You will undertake stock condition surveys, energy performance assessments, and HHSRS evaluations to inform long-term investment planning. This position also contributes to the development of strategic asset management decisions, ensuring properties are maintained to a high standard and housing assets are effectively utilised.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out stock condition surveys on council housing and garages, assessing the condition and lifecycle of key components.
- Collecting and updating data using asset management systems (Keystone and mobile platforms).
- Producing Energy Performance Certificates and HHSRS evaluations.
- Supporting the development of planned maintenance programmes and long-term asset management strategies.
- Undertaking inspections, including play parks and play equipment, and reporting required works.
- Preparing technical reports, client briefs, and advising on future maintenance projects.
- Working closely with tenants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure housing assets are maintained to regulatory standards.
About You
We are looking for a professional with:
- A recognised degree in a construction-related subject, or HNC/HND in Building Construction with substantial post-qualification experience.
- Strong knowledge of building construction, pathology, and defect diagnosis.
- Qualifications as a Domestic Energy Assessor and P402 Asbestos Surveyor (sampling and surveying).
- Excellent understanding of housing regulations and health and safety legislation, including CDM 2015 and HHSRS.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and asset management software.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable: Progression towards membership of RICS or CIOB, and experience with asset management software.
