Contract Type: 6.5 hours / 38 Weeks

About the Role

Are you looking for an opportunity to support students to make effective progress and achieve their ambitions? Working with the curriculum to focus on those facing barriers to learning, can you mentor and support student success? Can you promote student resilience and independence through relational practice, target setting and monitoring?

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Develop the skills of students who are disengaging following referrals from tutors. Liaise with relevant specialist colleagues to create, coordinate and implement a support plan for identified students with clear targets.
  • Deliver targeted support interventions, including making referrals for students with physical/mental health issues and liaise with parents/carers as appropriate.
  • Conduct regular 121s as timetabled for Level 2 and below with students to ensure they are on track to succeed.
  • Maintain own caseload of Level 3 students conducting regular 121s and monitoring progress.
  • Work with the students on supporting their progression options including UCAS applications offering support, guidance and help to contribute to an outstanding learner experience.

Requirements

You will need:

  • English and maths to at least level 2
  • Youth work qualification, Public Health qualification, Health & Wellbeing qualification, teaching qualification or trauma informed qualification First Aid Qualification or willingness to obtain
  • Understanding of the barriers to learning faced by students including the growth in the support required for mental health.
  • Working knowledge of external support agencies and stakeholders
