A leading UK-based design and build engineering firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its integrated delivery team. This organization combines design consultancy expertise with construction capability to deliver award-winning infrastructure projects across the UK. With an annual turnover exceeding £500 million, the business offers a strong and stable environment ideal for professional development and career progression.
The company has recently secured a long-term partnership framework with a major UK water utility, with responsibility for delivering more than £3 billion worth of infrastructure improvements in the North West. This includes significant investment in upgrading wastewater treatment facilities and reducing storm overflows — part of the UK's largest spill reduction programme, aimed at protecting rivers and bathing waters across the region.
About the Role:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead electrical design and engineering across the full project lifecycle — from feasibility through to commissioning — within water and wastewater treatment projects. Your work will have a direct impact on improving environmental outcomes and community wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review electrical engineering designs for treatment works equipment, including Motor Control Centres (MCCs), LV distribution, cabling, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks.
Create and review technical specifications and schedules to support procurement; assess supplier bids and technical submissions.
Mentor and support graduate engineers and early-career professionals.
Apply and contribute to design standards, particularly those used in the UK water industry.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
What We're Looking For:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards), or equivalent relevant experience.
Proven experience delivering quality outputs within engineering design and safety standards.
Strong communication skills and a methodical, problem-solving approach.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites within your operational region.
Benefits:
Competitive salary, reflective of experience.
Employer pension contributions up to 7%.
Annual leave flexibility, including buy/sell/carry-over options.
Life assurance, private medical insurance, critical illness cover, and health screening.
Enhanced parental leave policies including maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave.
Payment of annual professional membership fees.
Discounted gym memberships, cycle to work scheme, interest-free travel loans, and dining card offers.
