Job Title: Transport Planner 
Location: Hybrid (Peterborough HQ Onsite Tuesdays & 2 days per week during training)
Contract: 6-Month Fixed Term, Part-Time (Monday, Tuesday & Friday 8 hours per day)
Salary: £19,200 £22,400 (pro-rata)

Were looking for a proactive and organised Transport Planner to join our logistics team on a part-time, fixed-term basis. Youll be responsible for the day-to-day planning and coordination of deliveries across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organise transport and return raw material loads to mills across the UK.

  • Manage driver and vehicle resources through collaboration with local transport managers.

  • Assign and monitor work for 3rd party hauliers.

  • Work with Customer Service to optimise delivery volumes across the week using customer flexibility.

  • Communicate effectively with management and site teams to ensure customer expectations are met.

  • Monitor vehicle tracking systems to identify and implement efficiencies.

  • Produce and maintain plan vs actual KPIs.

  • Provide performance feedback to improve operational efficiency.

  • Ensure all planning complies with OLicence and safety requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across teams and stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience using Paragon planning systems (preferred).

  • Previous experience in logistics or demand planning.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to take initiative, remain calm under pressure, and work independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other planning tools.

  • Positive, customer-focused mindset internally and externally.

  • Flexible, with a can-do attitude and commitment to teamwork.

  • Comfortable working in a hybrid setup, with regular on-site presence during onboarding.

Working Pattern

  • Contract Length: 6 months

  • Days: Monday, Tuesday, Friday (8 hours/day)

  • Location: Hybrid On-site in Peterborough on Tuesdays and during initial training period
