Personnel Selection is seeking a Production Operative to perform trimming, shaping and inspection of engineered aluminium metal components the packing to customers. This is working in a heavy industrial manual role.
Job Function
The clients manufacturing process often leaves excess material around a component which must then be removed to finish the item. Typical trimming operations include, press trimming, vibratory finishing, and manual filing operations. Because the work is not controlled by a machine, you must be very self-motivated, and adaptable, to cope with the variety of trimming techniques used and the range and complexity of components which you will be working on. The final stage for most castings, prior to despatch to the customer is inspection and packing. Inspection requires checking every detail of the component to ensure that it meets the customer specification. This includes visual inspection of cosmetic features and checking details against inspection checklists and diagrams. Operatives carefully pack each component individually, and label consignments ready for despatch to the customer. This is a full time role working Monday to Friday day shift. 38 hours a week. Overtime is paid on any hours worked over 38 and paid at a rate of time and third. 25 days holiday and 8 days bank holidays.
Consideration and skills needed for the role:
- A steady and stable employment history.
- Worked within an engineering or metalwork manufacturing facility previously.
- Strong standard of English both written and verbal.
- Numerical ability to follow technical instructions and diagrams.
- Basic computer skills to be able to produce packing labels and picking notes.
- Ability and confidence to use hand and power tools including sharp items.
- Good eyesight with or without corrective lenses - ability to visually inspect small detailed cosmetic discrepancies on metal components.
- Happy to work in a standing position all day and perform repetitive packing duties which may involve bending and lifting.
- Previous experience operating machinery. - Training will be given on specific machines within company.
- Methodical, patient and diligent approach to work.
- Manual dexterity and good co-ordination.
- Must be prepared to work overtime if required.
- Due to the nature of machinery used, you will be required to be a minimum age of 18.
