What will the Finance Director role involve?

Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Shareholders and wider Board the Finance Director will lead and shape the financial future of a dynamic manufacturing company.  We’re looking for a strategic finance leader to join the team and deliver business growth, profitability, and operational excellence. This key role includes leading due diligence efforts, as the business prepares for a strategic business sale, making you a central player in the company’s future.

As the Finance Director, you’ll provide financial leadership, overseeing planning, budgeting, control, and reporting to support our business strategies. You’ll lead the finance and systems teams, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions across the company.

  • Deliver robust financial plans, strategies, policies, and processes aligned with business goals
  • Evaluate financial challenges, mitigate risks, and identify growth opportunities
  • Lead budgeting, management accounting, and financial reporting
  • Prepare and present clear financial reports to the Board and support strategic decision-making
  • Oversee financial controls, corporate governance and compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Manage treasury, investments, and relationships with auditors, banks, and advisors
  • Lead and develop a motivated finance and systems team, fostering collaboration across departments
  • Guide the due diligence process for the business sale, working closely with senior leaders and advisors

Suitable Candidate for the Finance Director vacancy:

We welcome candidates with proven success as a Finance Director or senior finance leader in a manufacturing business.

  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CIPFA) with proven senior finance experience, ideally in manufacturing.
  • Exposure to the Defence sector desirable, but not essential.
  • Exposure to and understanding of a due diligence process.
  • Strong commercial awareness and leadership skills.
  • Confident working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Skilled in communicating complex financial information to non-financial managers
  • Excellent team leader, able to inspire and develop others.
