Shift Operations Technician – Power Station

Circa £51,000 + bonus + benefits

MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Shift Operator / Shift Operations Technician to join the operations department of an energy from waste power plant near Bicester.

The Shift Operations Technician will be responsible for starting, stopping and monitoring the plant via a DCS system to ensure the site meets its operational targets in a safe and efficient manner.

 

As a Shift Operations Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Starting, stopping and monitoring boilers, steam turbines, pumps, water treatment plant and heat exchangers via a DCS
  • Performing basic first line maintenance tasks and reporting any defects to the Shift Team Leader
  • Assisting with shutdown activities within the plant ensuring downtime is kept to a minimum
  • Monitoring the sites CEMS and making appropriate operational adjustments when needed
  • Carrying out all activities with the highest regard for health and safety

 

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • Operations experience gained in a heavy process environment that involves the generation of high-pressure steam e.g. power generation, chemical, refinery, CHP etc
  • Merchant and Royal Navy Engineers with significant watchkeeping experience will be considered
  • Ideally a relevant engineering qualification such as NVQ/HNC/apprenticeship etc
  • A good understanding of HSE processes and procedures
  • A flexible approach to working routines and willingness to work on a shift pattern that involves 12-hour shifts
