Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Band 3 Decontamination Assistant with endoscopy experience to join our team at Heatherwood Hospital. This role is critical in ensuring the effective and safe decontamination of medical equipment, particularly within the endoscopy department. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of infection control and supporting the hospital's commitment to patient safety. Key Responsibilities:
  • Decontamination of Medical Equipment: Responsible for the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of endoscopy equipment and instruments in accordance with NHS guidelines and departmental protocols.
  • Endoscopy Equipment Handling: Ensure the correct handling, inspection, and processing of endoscopic devices, adhering to strict infection control and quality standards.
  • Maintain Stock Levels: Monitor and replenish consumable stock and equipment used in the decontamination process to ensure smooth department operations.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety Regulations: Follow relevant infection control policies, procedures, and legislation to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately complete records related to decontamination processes, stock levels, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assist in Training & Development: Support the training of new staff and provide guidance on best practices in decontamination.
  • General Department Support: Assist the decontamination team with any other tasks related to the endoscopy department, ensuring all equipment is ready for patient use.
Key Requirements:
  • Endoscopy Experience: Previous experience in endoscopy decontamination, handling endoscopic equipment, and adhering to related infection control protocols is essential.
  • Decontamination Knowledge: Familiarity with decontamination procedures and techniques, including the safe handling of medical instruments.
  • NHS Experience (Preferred): Experience working within a hospital or healthcare setting, particularly in an infection control or decontamination role.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
