Are you passionate about empowering people with learning disabilities to live independent, fulfilling lives? Do you have financial planning and analysis expertise and want to use your skills to drive positive change in an ambitious and values-led charity?

Our client, a renowned charity based in Kent, are looking for a dedicated Trustee to join their dynamic board.

About the charity: 

Our client has been at the forefront of learning disability support for nearly 40 years. Their innovative approach blends high-quality care, supported living, and life skills development with a thriving 100-acre farm that doubles as a popular family visitor attraction. This rare combination enables people with learning disabilities to gain skills in areas like animal care, horticulture, customer service, and the culinary arts, while fostering a strong sense of community and inclusion.

With a mission to empower individuality and achieve happiness, our client supports over 80 people in community settings, offering both residential and supported living services. The organisation is known for its holistic, person-centred approach, and its commitment to environmental stewardship and ethical farming. Their close-knit team of dedicated staff and volunteers is guided by values of courage, opportunity-seeking, collaboration, and doing the right thing.

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and governance, ensuring the charity pursues its mission and complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply your financial acumen to help secure the organisation’s long-term sustainability, optimise resources, and support ambitious plans for growth and impact.
  • Collaborate with a diverse Board and Senior Management Team, contributing your expertise to key decisions, risk management, and performance evaluation.
  •  Champion the rights and well-being of people with learning disabilities, helping to shape an inclusive society where anything is possible.

Who We’re Looking For

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with:

  • Strong expertise in financial planning, analysis, and/or strategic financial leadership.
  • A passion for inclusion, empowerment, and making a real difference in people’s lives.
  •  Strategic thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to balance risk and opportunity.
  •  Empathy, resilience, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  •  Lived experience of disability (personal or family) is highly valued, as is experience in fundraising, innovation, or ethical farming.

Commitment
