Fantastic Opportunity for an Experienced Project Manager in the Water Sector
I'm working with a leading engineering provider in the water industry who are looking to hire a Project Manager to join their established Projects team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation in civil, mechanical, electrical, or ICA engineering who loves delivering complex projects from concept through to completion.
You'll be working on major wastewater treatment and water infrastructure projects, many of which fall under AMP frameworks for the UK's water utilities. What You'll Be Working On
You'll take the lead on delivering end-to-end projects across wastewater treatment and associated infrastructure. Typical schemes include:
路Wastewater treatment site upgrades
路Replacement and improvement of existing treatment assets
路Biological treatment enhancements
路Aeration systems
路Filtration and settlement systems
路Flow measurement upgrades
路Pumping station improvements
路Screening systems
路Chemical dosing and mixing
路Storm storage solutions
路Pollution, spill, and flood mitigation
路PLC/SCADA upgrades including hardware and software replacement
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
路Manage projects across design, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning
路Ensure delivery is on time, within budget, and aligned with industry standards
Stakeholder Management
路Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies
路Engage with major water companies and ensure successful project outcomes
Technical Oversight
路Oversee all engineering elements (Mechanical, Electrical, ICA & Civils)
路Review and approve GAs, P&IDs, FDS documents, control philosophies, and PLC/SCADA designs
Safety, Health, Environment & Quality
路Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and ISO 45001/14001/9001
路Promote a strong safety culture on all projects
Financial Management
路Manage project budgets, forecasts, variations, and compensation events
路Maintain strong commercial oversight throughout the project lifecycle
Construction & Commissioning
路Oversee installation and commissioning phases
路Prepare RAMS, programmes, CPPs, schedules, and full documentation packs
路Resolve site issues and technical challenges
What You'll Need
Essential
路Experience in water and/or wastewater treatment projects
路Strong background in Mechanical, Electrical, ICA, or Civils engineering
路Understanding of Water Industry Standards (WIMES)
路Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts
路Experience with risk, quality, and change management
路Excellent planning and organisational skills
路Stakeholder and multidisciplinary team management experience
路CSCS card
路Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
路APM, PRINCE2, PMP certification
路IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, or NEBOSH
路ONC/HNC/BEng or NVQ equivalent in an engineering discipline
路Experience delivering projects for water utility companies (e.g. Thames, Southern, Anglian, Yorkshire, UU)
