Maintenance Control Engineer Kent/London On site Role Overview:

As a Maintenance Control Engineer this position involves overseeing the routine and preventative maintenance of Building Management Systems (BMS) across multiple client sites. The role ensures operational effectiveness, system reliability, and compliance with safety standards. The engineer will also deliver minor remedial works and support out-of-hours service delivery.



Maintenance Control Engineer Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and validate up-to-date records of system assets and equipment.
  • Track and document all system licenses, software, and associated security items.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for BMS components.
  • Conduct and update site-specific dynamic risk assessments using pre-prepared generic templates.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on field devices and system outstations.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns, remedial requests, and minor works as allocated.
  • Investigate and resolve system alarms, particularly those routed through user interfaces or head ends.
  • Regularly back up outstation strategies and update them to the designated shared repository.
  • Ensure all supervisory systems have current backups, licensed software, and appropriate cybersecurity measures.
  • Update system documentation (O&M manuals) to reflect changes discovered during maintenance.
  • Submit maintenance reports and recommendations for further work as necessary.
  • Survey prospective sites for potential maintenance and upgrade works.
  • Participate in the on-call support rota and respond to out-of-hours requests when scheduled.


Maintenance Control Engineer Performance Expectations:

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
  • Keep all relevant safety certifications and industry accreditations current (e.g., CSCS, ECS).
  • Adhere to company policies and defined reporting lines; accept reasonable tasks and provide regular updates on workload or issues.
  • Maintain high standards in system maintenance and record-keeping.
  • Generate accurate asset lists and ensure software backups are securely archived.
  • Control inventory and safeguard tools and materials.
  • Deliver comprehensive client reports that may include images, screenshots, or data trends.
  • Identify and suggest potential energy-saving or performance-enhancing opportunities.
  • Provide full technical detail for any required remedial work, including photos, part numbers, and routing information.
