Are you an Overseas Trained Teacher looking to begin your teaching career in the UK? We at GSL Education Kent are excited to offer opportunities across Kent for passionate educators ready to make their mark! Whether you’ve recently relocated or are looking for your first opportunity in teaching, we can help you take your first step into the UK education system.
As an Overseas Trained Teacher, you’ll initially start in flexible roles similar to a Cover Supervisor — managing classrooms, supporting lessons, and gaining valuable UK school experience without the immediate pressure of full teaching responsibilities. As an Overseas Trained Teacher, your role will involve:
• Supervising whole classes during teacher absence, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
• Following pre-set lesson plans and maintaining classroom discipline.
• Building rapport with students and staff across different schools.
• Gaining hands-on experience in UK school settings and different key stages.
• Preparing to transition into subject-specific or long-term teaching roles with support and guidance.
To be considered for the Overseas Trained Teacher role, you must:
• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Show a genuine passion for education and a commitment to creating a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Be enthusiastic, adaptable, and keen to develop your practice in UK schools.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting students' learning.
• Be open to flexible, part-time work to start with, with opportunities to grow into full-time or long-term teaching placements.
• Possess an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one (we can assist with this).
