Shift Team Leader - Energy from Waste / Power Station

Alecto Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Shift Team Leader to join the operations team at an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven leader from the power generation sector to take on a key operational role, offering strong career prospects, competitive salary, and benefits.



The Role - Key Responsibilities

As Shift Team Leader, you will take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the plant, including:

  • Leading the day-to-day management of the operations team.

  • Deputising for the Operations Manager and making critical decisions in a safe and professional manner.

  • Managing site objectives including operational output, logistics, long-term operational and maintenance planning, statutory compliance, resource planning, and cost control.

  • Setting KPIs, improvement plans, and performance targets for your shift team.

  • Overseeing compliance with the SHE Management System and ensuring safe working practices.

  • Ensuring all team members are trained, competent, and supported.

  • Providing strong leadership, effective delegation, and clear communication.

  • Motivating and engaging your team to create a purposeful and positive working environment.

  • Driving the implementation and continuous improvement of the site Maintenance System.



Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A relevant technical qualification (ONC/HNC/Degree in an engineering discipline).

  • At least 5 years' experience in an operational power station environment with supervisory/leadership experience.

  • Background in Energy from Waste, CCGT, Biomass, CHP, Coal, or Nuclear.

  • Alternatively, Senior Royal Navy Marine Engineers with significant watchkeeping experience (Petty Officer / Chief Petty Officer / Warrant Officer) will also be considered.

  • IOSH or NEBOSH certification.

  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status or High Voltage (HV) experience (advantageous).

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
