Contractor that specialises in civil engineering works for the rail sector requires aQuantity Surveyor, with the opportunity for hybrid working available, based in either Kent or Essex. Long-term contract opportunity with the potential to be outside IR35.

Duties:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, cost plans and budgets for civil asset management schemes
  • Price remits from a schedule of rates
  • Provide support to the tendering process, including bills of quantities and contract documentation
  • Montor costs against project budget, identifying potential savings and areas where budget might be exceeded
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, client standards / requirements and all relevant legislation
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders,Project Managers,Project Engineers, Design Engineers etc, giving commercial support across all stages of the projects
  • Manage subcontractor packages, to include procurement and settling of final accounts
  • Value variations and change control
  • Create and present commercial cost reports for both internal teams and the client

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, working on civil engineering projects, ideally within the rail industry. However, a QS with civils experience in the utilities or construction sectors will also be considered.
  • Experience pricing civils works at a value of up to 250k
  • Strong understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract
  • Excellent communication, commercial and analytical skills
