DCS Engineer - Power Station (EfW / Power Generation)

The Role - Key Responsibilities

As the DCS Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Ongoing maintenance, support, and optimisation of the site-wide DCS.

  • Leading upgrade projects (software and hardware improvements).

  • Troubleshooting and resolving control system issues across the plant.

  • Administering user access and ensuring security of control logic.

  • Supporting auxiliary systems such as turbine and emissions control platforms.

  • Maintaining detailed documentation, backups, and system change logs.

  • Working closely with engineering and maintenance teams.

  • Staying up to date with the latest control system technologies and recommending improvements.

  • Developing process monitoring tools to enhance efficiency and reliability.



Requirements

To be considered, you should have:

  • A relevant technical qualification (HNC, ONC, NVQ) or significant industry experience.

  • At least 5 years' experience in a control systems role within Energy from Waste, Power, Cement, or Process industries.

  • Strong knowledge of Siemens or Yokogawa DCS systems (preferred).

  • Experience working with PLCs.

  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols.

  • Project management skills (experience with Microsoft Project desirable).

  • Experience using CMMS systems (Q4 preferred).

  • A proactive, detail-focused approach with excellent teamwork skills.
