We are seeking a visionary Head of Service for Safeguarding and Quality Assurance to play a pivotal leadership role in driving excellence, innovation, and positive outcomes across our children’s services.

About the role

As the Head of Service – Safeguarding and Quality Assurance, you will provide strategic leadership and direction to ensure Medway’s safeguarding standards remain robust, responsive, and child-focused. You’ll lead on quality assurance, oversee Ofsted preparation, and champion continuous improvement across all safeguarding functions.

You will bring:

  • A recognised Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree, PGC in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW or equivalent)
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • A Level 5 Management qualification (NVQ or equivalent)
  • Extensive management experience, including leading through change
  • Significant experience in safeguarding and quality assurance within children’s services
  • Proven success in planning for and contributing to Ofsted inspections
  • Strong understanding of the legislative and policy framework for services to children, young people, and families
  • Experience working within a Signs of Safety framework
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
