Assistant Head Teacher
Salary: £53,602 - £60,644 (Salary dependent on experience)
We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and motivated teacher to take on an exciting role as Assistant Head Teacher at our non-maintained special school with up to 85 pupils on roll, aged between 5 – 16 years.
We provide high-quality education and therapeutic care for pupils with a range of special educational needs. Duties will include:
- Lead on a specific area of the Ofsted framework across the school.
- Provide strategic leadership in this area, monitor and evaluate activities for impact as set out in the school’s ‘Self Evaluation Development Plan’.
- Provide strategic leadership to fulfil the school’s vision of transformational learning opportunities in all aspects of their lives as they ‘prepare for adulthood’.
- Support teachers in understanding the different aspects of teaching and learning in SEN&D school.
- Work closely with the Heads of School to provide daily operational support, as directed.
You will need to have:
- A commitment to providing high-quality educational opportunities for pupils with a range of SEND including Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
- Min. 3 years in higher education with qualification at degree level or equivalent.
- The ability to work as part of a highly effective team.
- Strong commitment to inclusion.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A good range of IT skills.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- A UK registered teaching qualification e.g. PGCE or certificate in education.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience of teaching.
- Experience of successful management at senior level.

Information about the school
Our non-maintained special school caters for up to 64 young people across Key Stages 1-4. We are a therapeutic school specialising in supporting the educational and emotional needs of students who have experienced trauma, and/or have a diagnosis of Autism and/or other neurodevelopmental and psychological problems aged 5 – 16.
Our team of teachers and therapists work closely together to deliver a therapy-informed curriculum within a safe, stimulating, personalised, and nurturing learning environment. We strongly believe that children and young people can learn and move forward in their educational journey when their emotional, social, and cognitive needs are appropriately supported.
We offer an exciting curriculum which is individualised to meet the needs of our students and includes Forest School, outdoor learning, and a number of vocational courses - catering, construction, land-based studies, and hairdressing.
