Are you a creative and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) with a passion for the performing arts?
GSL Education Kent are seeking a dynamic individual to join a specialist school in Ashford that supports students with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This inclusive and therapeutic setting values creativity as a powerful tool for engagement and expression. As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) with a performing arts background, you will help students build confidence, communication, and emotional resilience through music, drama, and movement.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will:
- Support students with Autism and SEMH needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
- Use performing arts techniques to inspire learning and emotional expression
- Collaborate with teaching and therapy staff to implement creative, individualised support strategies
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through engaging activities
- Encourage independence, teamwork, and self-esteem through performance-based learning
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly Autism and SEMH
- Bring a background in performing arts (e.g., drama, music, dance) to enrich the learning environment
- Be empathetic, patient, and adaptable, with strong communication skills
- Be proactive and able to follow guidance from teaching and therapeutic staff
- Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
- Be a driver with access to a vehicle, as travel is essential due to the school’s location and duties
