Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a well-known client based in the Power industry, who have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on a permanent/staff basis over in Lynemouth. The successful candidate will further develop strategies to ensure the power station can perform and function effectively and efficiently. They will ensure the appropriate systems, processes and resources are in place to enable the assets within the power station to deliver their function and are in place over the entire life cycle.

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing and delivering the Asset Management (AM) strategy for all large rotating plant – including critical fans, pumps, and Pulverised Fuel (PF) mills
  • Developing tactics for all large rotating plant to increase reliability and availability
  • Analysing and eliminating defects to increase plant reliability, availability, efficiency and flexibility using available maintenance tools (e.g. RCA, FMEA, CMMS)
  • Ensuring continuous feedback and analysis of outputs from site condition monitoring programs to manage the health and lifecycle of the large rotating plant portfolio
  • Accountable for the Asset Criticality register, ensuring regular spares and kitting reviews are carried out to optimise working capital, tool-time and work management processes
  • Improving competency of onsite craft resources to ensure skill development in maintaining and rebuilding large rotating plant

What you will need:

  • Recognised degree in Engineering discipline (essential)
  • Chartered status, or working towards (desirable)
  • IOSH (desirable)
  • Technical competency and knowledge of plant engineering, maintenance, and reliability
  • Be able to identify and implement reliability improvement strategies, practices, and projects • Technical competency in performance monitoring and troubleshooting rotating equipment system • Experience with selection of new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment
  • Experience of system development and system reliability
  • Outage experience
  • Proven knowledge and experience in a similar industry
  • Experience of engineering processes
  • Understanding of and has working knowledge in preventive and predictive maintenance programs. (Oil analysis, vibration monitoring, compressor performance monitoring, etc)
