Were working in partnership with a long-established, community-based Housing Association in the Oldham area. As they continue to invest in their homes and communities, theyre looking to appoint an experiencedSenior Surveyor / Asset Managerto lead on the delivery of excellent asset management and property services.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Director of Assets, this is a key leadership position with both strategic and operational responsibility. Youll lead on the planning, delivery, and monitoring of the organisations asset management strategy using your technical surveying expertise to ensure homes are safe, well-maintained, and compliant.

Youll manage key investment programmes, oversee stock condition data, and work collaboratively with contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality services and value for money.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic and Operational Asset Management
  • Develop and implement short, medium, and long-term asset strategies aligned with organisational priorities.

  • Lead on data-driven investment planning, using stock condition data to identify priorities and ensure homes remain safe, compliant, and well-maintained.

  • Oversee the operational delivery of all surveying programmes, including fire risk assessments stock condition surveys, disrepair inspections, and building safety assessments.

  • Ensure compliance with building safety and regulatory standards, including fire safety.

Performance & Compliance
  • Set, monitor, and deliver against ambitious performance targets across responsive repairs, cyclical maintenance, and planned investment works.

  • Drive continuous service improvement through effective data analysis, resident feedback, and quality assurance processes.

  • Monitor and manage budgets and forecasts, ensuring services deliver value for money and align with financial objectives.

Contractor & Team Management
  • Lead, manage, and hold external contractors and consultants accountable for high-quality, cost-effective delivery.

  • Inspire and support a high-performing in-house team, promoting a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and customer focus.

  • Ensure that all services are compliant, well-governed, and aligned with best practice in asset and building safety management.

What Were Looking For

  • Degree or equivalent in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline
  • Substantial experience in asset management, property surveying, or building maintenance ideally within social housing
  • Excellent knowledge of housing compliance and safety standards (e.g. CDM, HHSRS, Decent Homes, fire safety)
  • Strong experience in contractor management, project delivery, and performance monitoring
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills with a solutions-focused mindset
