Hours - 8.30am to 4.30pm - no flexibility on the working times

£12,000 – £15,000 per annum for 15 hours per week (FTE £30,000 - £37,500K)

Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a flexible, rewarding role in the education sector?

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established independent school for a part-time HR Manager to join their team and lead on all aspects of HR compliance and operations.

About the Role

As HR Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the school’s HR function. This is a varied and hands-on position where you’ll manage recruitment, safeguarding checks, employee relations, and HR compliance in line with UK employment law and statutory guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee HR operations, including contracts, personnel files, and compliance with employment law and safeguarding requirements.
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle, from advertising roles to onboarding new staff.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and the Single Central Record (SCR).
  • Provide professional HR advice on policies, performance, and employee relations.
  • Monitor attendance and absence, including sickness management processes.
  • Develop and update HR policies and ensure staff awareness.
  • Coordinate staff training and development, including mandatory safeguarding training.
  • Support payroll processes and maintain HR systems.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven HR experience, ideally within education or a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and safer recruitment practices.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a small team setting.
  • CIPD qualification Level 5 (or working towards) is desirable.
