As a Product Technologist, you'll be the mastermind behind managing products, using your industry expertise and innovative spirit. You'll be a vital part of our team, ensuring Aldi products meet our high standards and fostering a culture of quality throughout our supply base.

Your mission? Support our Buyers in bringing products from idea to shelf and keep our standards shining bright post-launch.

We're on the lookout for experienced Product Technologists who have specialised knowledge within your product group. If you have a proven track record of swiftly launching products while ensuring continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle, you're the one we want!

Your New Role

• Oversee Product Development for all projects within their retail categories

• Conduct pre-tender sampling and create product briefs

• Review supplier samples against submission information, provide feedback and iterate product

• Support with the documentation of final agreed specification including the creation of a QAS

• Conduct Production Case Checks

• Coordinate the ongoing monitoring programme for all products within categories

• Resolve delays

• Complete regular status reports

• Attend regular stakeholder meetings with senior Buying colleagues

• Competitor analysis

• Identify cost saving opportunities

• Identify and implement new systems and processes to improve speed to shelf

About You

Essential:

  • HACCP Level 3
  • Technical experience within Food Manufacturing, Quality or Retail
  • Able to influence cross functionally and across all levels within the business
  • Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Previous experience as a Product Technologist in a product facing role
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good understanding of the retail product development process
  • Project management skills
  • Critical path management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Highly analytical
  • Creative mindset
  • Supplier Management
  • Cross functional working with commercial teams/other business functions
  • Food expertise across several product areas/ temperature regimes
  • Able to work independently and part of a team
  • Confident, professional, and articulate
  • Able to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Computer Literate: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Calm under pressure
  • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

Desirable:

  • Experience working at a manufacturing site/ supplier or another major retailer
  • Knowledge of food products
  • Knowledge of quality management systems/product safety controls

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with the opportunity of remote working up to 2 days per week
