Are you an experienced Finance Manager looking for the next challenge in your career? My client is looking for someone to contribute to the overall strategic and operational management of financial services within the Council. You will manage, motivate and develop the staff within the team to identify priorities and ensure objectives are achieved.

As the Senior Finance Manager within the ASC service area, you will be responsible for all aspects of the Medium Term Financial Planning process. You will play a significant role in reporting the Council's financial position to senior management, challenging the team to ensure accurate forecasting and suggesting actions for cost reductions.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Finance Manager

  • Contribute to the strategic and operational management of the provision
  • Assume responsibility for approving finance processes
  • Manage and motivate your team to ensure a high level of performance
  • Lead on Medium Term Financial Planning processes
  • Report the Council's financial position to senior management
  • Challenge the team to ensure forecasts are accurate and suggest actions for cost reductions
  • Ensure robust management systems and processes are in place

Required skills and experience of the Senior Finance Manager

  • Qualified Accountant
  • Previous experience managing and developing staff
  • Financial planning, control and reporting in a public sector organisation, preferably local authority
  • Capable of explaining complicated and technical information to colleagues with varying levels of subject matter knowledge
  • Innovative and creative thinker
