The Accounts Semi-Senior Role: As an Accounts Semi-Senior, you will play a crucial role in preparing financial statements in compliance with relevant financial reporting standards. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial statements from source documents/records to final accounts for review by the appropriate manager.
  • Creating accounting schedules to support the balances and transactions included in the financial statements.
  • Adhering to proper accounting standards and working on a diverse range of accounts.
  • Effectively managing time to ensure that jobs are finished within budget and meeting deadlines.
  • Developing and maintaining good client relations, resolving queries and obtaining necessary information.
  • Providing a high level of service to meet client expectations.
  • Making timely recommendations in relation to accounting matters, financial reporting, and accounting systems.

Additional Accounts Semi-Senior Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with bookkeeping, VAT return preparation.
  • Preparing control account reconciliations and other month-end procedures.
  • Preparing quarterly management accounts for onward submission to clients.

The Ideal Accounts Semi-Senior Candidate: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • AAT Level 3 or 4, or ACA studier.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in accounts preparation within a practice environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge/experience of accounts preparation within a practice environment.
  • Strong double-entry knowledge and skill.
  • Cloud-based accounting systems knowledge including Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks.
  • Strong IT skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel, for the production of letters and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic tax knowledge - awareness of how to do tax computations, PAYE, VAT.
  • Accuracy, organisational, and time management skills.
  • Confident when dealing with clients and expressing your views.
  • Methodical and logical thinking.
  • Initiative to identify problems and provide solutions.
  • Ability to work within a team and handle strict deadlines and conflicting priorities.
