ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and qualified Outreach Tutor to deliver bespoke 1:1 tuition in English and Maths at Key Stage 3 and GCSE level. This support will be provided to pupils across Buckinghamshire who are currently not attending mainstream education.

This is an excellent opportunity for a QTS or PGCE-qualified teacher with experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The role is ideal for someone who is looking to step away from the classroom and focus on delivering tailored, high-impact lessons to individual learners.

As an Outreach Tutor, you will plan and deliver engaging and personalised lessons that address gaps in knowledge and help improve academic performance, confidence, and motivation. Many of these learners will have been out of formal education for some time, and your role will be key in supporting their reintegration into structured learning.

Prospero Teaching will provide ongoing support, regular check-ins, and progress monitoring to ensure effective delivery and student success.

  • Position - Outreach Tutor (KS3 & GCSE - English and Maths)
  • Type of work - Contract
  • Start date - ASAP
  • Duration / Likely Duration - Ongoing, depending on the student
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Full time/part time - Flexible hours available depending on your availability
  • Minimum rate of pay - From 25 per hour
  • Hours - Sessions typically range from 1 to 3 hours per day per student

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must hold QTS, PGCE or equivalent UK teaching qualification
  • Experience supporting students with SEN
  • Minimum 6 months experience teaching in a UK school, ideally at KS3 or GCSE level
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued within the last year (not essential)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Provide two professional references covering the last two years, ideally related to teaching or child-centred roles
