Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (Autism – ASC)
Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time– Term Time Only
Salary: £90 – £120 per day (depending on experience)
About the Role:
A warm and inclusive primary school in Aylesbury is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You will play a key role in helping children access the curriculum, develop communication and social interaction skills, and build independence within a structured and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with Autism, adapting learning resources to meet their individual needs.
- Use strategies such as PECS, TEACCH, or visual timetables to promote engagement and structure.
- Support social communication, interaction, and play in both classroom and outdoor settings.
- Work with teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Encourage independence and emotional regulation through positive reinforcement and therapeutic approaches.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with Autism or a strong passion for SEN support.
- Knowledge of Autism-friendly strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration (desirable).
- Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
