About the Role:
A warm and inclusive primary school in Aylesbury is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). You will play a key role in helping children access the curriculum, develop communication and social interaction skills, and build independence within a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with Autism, adapting learning resources to meet their individual needs.
  • Use strategies such as PECS, TEACCH, or visual timetables to promote engagement and structure.
  • Support social communication, interaction, and play in both classroom and outdoor settings.
  • Work with teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Encourage independence and emotional regulation through positive reinforcement and therapeutic approaches.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism or a strong passion for SEN support.
  • Knowledge of Autism-friendly strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration (desirable).
  • Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
