A leading, long-established packaging manufacturer is seeking an experienced Estimating & Procurement Manager to oversee its cost estimation and purchasing functions. The company works with major global brands across sectors including homewares, cosmetics, food & beverage, and home entertainment, and holds internationally recognised manufacturing, environmental, and quality accreditations.

Reporting to the Operations Director, this is a key leadership role managing a team of three. The position involves ensuring accurate and timely quotations, strategic purchasing, effective supplier management, and the delivery of insightful production and procurement reports. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen, technical print/packaging expertise, and proven leadership ability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed, accurate estimates for printed packaging products based on specifications, materials, production capabilities, and labour requirements.
  • Ensure estimates are aligned with company strategy and market benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, and production teams to support client quote requests.
  • Maintain and develop pricing models, factoring in all relevant cost variables.
  • Oversee purchasing activities for raw materials, outsourced services, and production supplies.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best value in terms of cost, quality, and service.
  • Monitor supplier performance, pricing trends, and material availability in the UK and Europe.
  • Develop procurement strategies in line with business objectives.
  • Set performance objectives, identify training needs, and mentor team members.
  • Produce and present cost performance data, KPI reports, and procurement insights to senior management.
  • Stay informed on emerging materials, sustainability developments, and industry innovations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant certifications and standards.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong commercial background, ideally in purchasing and estimating.
  • Packaging sector experience desirable.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Confident, proactive, and committed to continuous learning and team development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with data analysis.
  • High integrity, flexibility, and accountability.
